Progressive Discipline

This course is designed to provide instruction to law enforcement personnel responsible for providing positive discipline to their immediate reporting personnel. The course contains training that would be beneficial to all public and private law enforcement, corrections or communications supervisors, managers, or administrators.

We will cover topics directly relating to providing a positive response when administering discipline to employees without generating an enviroment of hostility. The goal for the correction to improve both the performance of the employee while advancing the misson of the company. Topics include how to administer the discipline in a positive manner; communication techniques that create a positive response; relationship development that includes trust; maintaining posititve motivation and morale.

In addition to the above, this course will cover the legal aspects of discipline as provided through the court cases that established the criteria to be used by agencies. Topics include, Garrity Rights; “Kalkines” warning; Loudermill public employee rights; “At-Will” employment; nd others. The attendee will leave the course better informed on hoe to conduct discipline within their agencies while maintaining a motivated work force.
